Celine Dion Opens Up About Health Struggles in Upcoming Documentary

Celine Dion, the renowned Canadian singer, has unveiled a deeply personal and emotional trailer for her upcoming documentary, “I Am: Celine Dion.” Directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Irene Taylor, the documentary will provide a behind-the-scenes look at Dion’s life following her diagnosis with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS), a rare neurological disorder.

Diagnosed with SPS in December 2022, Dion cancelled her Las Vegas residency in 2021 and the European leg of her Courage World Tour. SPS is characterized by muscle stiffness and spasms, and currently, there is no cure. Treatments include muscle sedatives, relaxants, and physical therapy.

The trailer, released on May 23, 2024, features intimate footage of Dion performing, recording music, and undergoing physical therapy. In one scene, Dion, 56, tearfully admits, “I miss it so much. The people… I miss them. If I can’t run, I’ll walk. If I can’t walk, I’ll crawl. I won’t stop.”

“I Am: Celine Dion” is described as a “love letter” to her fans, showcasing the resilience of the human spirit. The documentary will be available to stream on Prime Video starting June 25, 2024.
