Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected to hit London and parts of central and northern England and Wales on Sunday afternoon, disrupting bank holiday plans. The Met Office forecast predicts over an inch of rain could fall within an hour, with possible hail, lightning strikes, and subsequent flooding, travel delays, and power cuts.

Yellow weather warnings are in effect from midday until 8pm, covering much of England and Wales. A separate warning impacts south-west England and the Home Counties from 10am to 7pm. Meteorologist Kathryn Chalk emphasized the potential for travel disruption and advised people to stay informed.

Saturday was warm and dry, but temperatures are expected to drop, with showers continuing into the week. Monday’s forecast includes mixed conditions with possible dry spells in parts of Wales, Northern Ireland, and south-west England.
