In a remarkable display of skill and athleticism, Monster Energy’s Kokomo Murase captured second place in the Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle event at the 2024 FIS Slopestyle World Cup in Silvaplana, Switzerland. This exceptional achievement earned the 19-year-old athlete from Gifu, Japan, not one, but two prestigious Crystal Globe trophies—the FIS World Cup Crystal Globe for the Slopestyle discipline and the overall Crystal Globe for the FIS Park & Pipe World Cup rankings.

The FIS World Cup in Silvaplana, which took place from March 21-24, is a highly anticipated event in the snow sports calendar. Sanctioned by the World Ski Federation (FIS), it draws the world’s elite snow sports athletes to the breathtaking Corvatsch resort near St Moritz in the Swiss Alps. The event marks the culmination of the 2023/2024 FIS Park & Pipe World Cup season, with the Slopestyle competitions serving as the grand finale where the season’s champions are crowned.

Kokomo Murase entered the competition as a strong contender, having recently clinched a Slopestyle victory at the FIS Tignes World Cup—the first in two years, which positioned her as a frontrunner for the Crystal Globe trophies. Her performance in Silvaplana, including a series of meticulously executed tricks and jumps, not only secured her second place in the Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle event with a score of 72.98 points but also confirmed her supremacy in the discipline, leading her to win the Crystal Globe trophy with 225.00 points.

Murase’s exceptional talent and consistency throughout the season were further recognized as she claimed the overall title in Women’s Snowboard Park & Pipe with a total score of 425.00 points. This remarkable feat marks the second occasion Murase has won both the Slopestyle and Overall Crystal Globes, a testament to her formidable presence in the sport.

The FIS World Cup in Silvaplana also saw impressive performances from other members of the Monster Energy team. German rider Annika Morgan secured third place in the 2023/24 Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle rankings with 144.00 points, while Japanese rider Taiga Hasegawa clinched second place in the Men’s Snowboard Slopestyle event.

The Men’s Freeski Slopestyle final was impacted by inclement weather, leading to the cancellation of the event and the decision to award places based on Friday’s qualifier scores. Monster Army rider Luca Harrington from New Zealand navigated this challenge to finish in third place, showcasing his prowess in the sport.

Alex Hall, another notable Monster Energy athlete, finished the season strong with a second-place standing in both the overall FIS Freeski Park & Pipe World Cup rankings and the Slopestyle rankings, further highlighting Monster Energy’s dominant presence in snow sports.

The 2024 FIS Slopestyle World Cup in Silvaplana underscored the immense talent and resilience of athletes in the face of competition and challenging conditions.
