Ahead of Earth Day 2024, LG Electronics has taken over Time Square with a striking 3D anamorphic display aimed at raising awareness for endangered and vulnerable species. Renowned for its cutting-edge technology, LG collaborates with Discovery Education and the National Wildlife Federation to launch an educational campaign that transcends the conventional approaches to wildlife conservation messages.

The Time Square billboard will regularly showcase different species throughout the year in stunningly lifelike 3D animations that appear to leap out of the digital screens. The campaign begins with the enigmatic snow leopard, followed by the bald eagle, the Galapagos sea lion, and the reindeer. Each animal’s detailed portrayal aims to connect passersby with the realities these species face.

This initiative centres around LG’s broader mission to intertwine environmental consciousness with educational outreach. Through an exclusive website developed with Discovery Education, the LG Endangered Species Series will offer comprehensive, standard-aligned educational content for K-12 students.

Starting April 18, educators and students will gain access to vital learning materials that highlight the distinctive traits of vulnerable animals and the roles they play in their ecosystems. This curriculum not only educates but also endeavours to cultivate a deep respect for biodiversity.

LG Electronics pledges $150,000 in further partnership with the National Wildlife Federation and Discovery Education to enhance this initiative. This collaboration is significant, as it bolsters programs like NWF’s EcoSchools USA and EcoLeaders, which are influential in crafting environmentally conscious future leaders.

Chris Jung, CEO of LG North America, emphasized the essence of Earth Day, saying that every small action contributes toward safeguarding the environment for future generations. Collin O’Mara, President and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation, pointed out that such collaborative efforts could stimulate a significant impact in combating extinction crises and climate change.

In additional efforts to engage the community, LG’s North American Innovation Campus in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, will host the ‘Life’s Good Earth Day Fair’ on April 22. The fair is designed to be an interactive experience, offering a variety of activities focused on sustainable practices. Highlights include an e-waste recycling drive, the inauguration of a new pollinator garden designed to attract a variety of essential pollinators, and the introduction of an Inspiration Lab where attendees can learn about LG’s innovations in sustainability.

David Mizejewski, a naturalist with the National Wildlife Federation, pointed out the importance of integrating native keystone plants into local landscapes. He underscored that these efforts not only support crucial pollinators but also help absorb carbon dioxide, ultimately fostering a resilient ecosystem.
