Professional golfer Grayson Murray passed away from suicide on May 25, 2024, at the age of 30. Murray’s parents, Eric and Terry Murray, confirmed his death in a statement released through the PGA Tour, expressing their grief and acknowledging the support from the golfing community. Murray had withdrawn from the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, citing illness, a day before his death was announced.

Murray, from Raleigh, North Carolina, was a noted talent in junior golf, winning three IMG Junior World titles between 2006 and 2008. At 16, he became the second youngest to make the cut on the Korn Ferry Tour, and later played in the 2013 US Open. He secured his first PGA Tour win at the Barbasol Championship in 2017 and ended a prolonged winless streak by winning the Sony Open in January 2024.

Throughout his career, Murray openly discussed his battles with mental health issues and alcoholism. Despite his struggles, he found periods of success and was ranked 58th in the world at the time of his death. Murray’s candidness about his personal challenges had inspired many within the golfing community.

Murray is survived by his parents, brother Cameron, sister Erica, and fiancée Christiana Ritchie. The golfing world, including PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan and fellow player Scottie Scheffler, mourned his passing and highlighted his openness about mental health, which left a lasting impact.
