Watch Dealer Dies Following £2.8 Million Robbery in Richmond

Oliver White, a 27-year-old watch dealer, was found dead at his family home in Shepperton, Surrey, on Sunday, May 26, 2024. White had been subjected to a violent robbery at his workplace, 247 Kettles in Richmond, London, just a day earlier. Two men, posing as customers needing a watch repair, assaulted him and stole luxury watches worth about £2.8 million.

During the robbery, White was placed in a chokehold while the watches were taken. Despite not being physically injured in the incident, the emotional trauma led him to return home “traumatised and unable to speak,” according to his family. The family believes the distress from the robbery contributed to his death, which Surrey Police confirmed is not being treated as suspicious.

White’s employers at 247 Kettles expressed regret that he was alone during the robbery and stated that security measures were not followed correctly. The company, which has strict security procedures including panic buttons, alarms, smoke screens, and security doors, acknowledged that these were not implemented.

A tribute to White was posted by his girlfriend, Alana Dredge, on Instagram, and his family described him as their “beautiful, funny, loyal boy.” The Metropolitan Police have launched a manhunt for the two suspects, urging anyone with information to come forward.
