In Hornchurch, East London, a woman in her 50s was fatally attacked by her two XL Bully dogs inside her home on May 20, 2024. The victim, identified as Angeline Mahal, was discovered by her two sons who attempted CPR before calling emergency services. Despite efforts from medics, including air ambulance personnel, Mahal was pronounced dead at the scene.
Armed police responded to the incident and safely contained the two dogs within a room at the residence. The XL Bully breed has been subject to fresh restrictions since February 1, requiring owners to have an exemption certificate under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991. Mahal’s dogs were legally registered.
