Actor Johnny Wactor, 37, known for his roles on “General Hospital” and other television series, was fatally shot early Saturday morning in downtown Los Angeles. The incident occurred around 3:25 a.m. near West Pico Boulevard and South Hope Street when Wactor encountered three men attempting to steal the catalytic converter from his vehicle.

Wactor, who had been working at a rooftop bar, was walking a female co-worker to her car when he saw the men near his truck. Thinking his vehicle was being towed, he approached them for clarification. One of the suspects, wearing a mask, shot Wactor before fleeing with the others in a vehicle. Paramedics arrived on the scene but Wactor was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the incident but no suspects have been identified or arrested as of now. Catalytic converter thefts have been a growing issue due to the valuable metals they contain.

Wactor’s family, including his brother Grant and mother Scarlett, described him as a hard-working “southern gentleman.” He is survived by his mother and brothers Lance and Grant. His death has led to emotional tributes from former colleagues and fans, highlighting his kindness, talent, and dedication.

Wactor had a successful acting career with notable roles on “General Hospital,” “Westworld,” “Criminal Minds,” and “Station 19.” He also pursued producing and screenwriting, with several projects in development. The entertainment community mourns his loss, remembering him as a charismatic and genuine individual.
