A delightful spectacle titled “Rosie Revere, Engineer & Friends” is set to enchant young minds at the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center on May 11 at 11:00 AM. This musical extravaganza, aimed at children aged 4 and above, is not just a theatrical delight but also a celebration of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Set in Ms. Greer’s classroom, the story revolves around three creatively gifted children, each with a unique passion. Rosie Revere is a young girl with massive engineering dreams, Iggy Peck is deeply passionate about architecture, and Ada Twist’s insatiable curiosity is often both her greatest gift and an endless challenge for her teacher. These characters are drawn from Andrea Beaty’s beloved children’s books – “Rosie Revere, Engineer,” “Iggy Peck, Architect,” and “Ada Twist, Scientist,” which have captivated young readers worldwide with their inspiring tales and charming illustrations by David Roberts.
Bringing these stories to life are Lauren Gunderson, the most produced living playwright in the U.S., who has written the book, while Bree Lowdermilk and Kait Kerrigan have crafted the musical score and lyrics, respectively. The show boasts an accomplished creative team, including director Peter Flynn and choreographer Marcos Santana, known for his work on Broadway’s “Rocky.” Set design by Anne Mundell and costumes by Jenifer Caprio promise to create a vibrant and visually engaging world.
The choice of this musical aligns perfectly with BMCC Tribeca PAC’s mission to present high-quality artistic work that reflects a broad global perspective and engages diversified audiences.
